Gate Bridge, West Vancouver is only minutes from downtown Vancouver,
at the base of the North Shore mountains. Comprised of over 30 village-like communities,
most of which are stamped along the coastline, West Vancouver is very much an
urbanite's paradise disguised in an unlikely setting. The community of Ambleside,
a playground for socialites, attracts people with its trendy shops, posh restaurants
and happening bars. Heading northwest along the coast, Dundarave is home to some
interesting boutiques and an enclave of antique stores. Heading further up the
coast visitors are sure to stop at Lighthouse
Park, which contains Canada's oldest manned lighthouse. Once in Horseshoe
Bay–the gateway to Bowen Island,
the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver
Island–be sure to peruse the inviting waterfront shops and cafes, and take
in the spectacular sunsets over the water. A visit to Horseshoe
Bay Park is sure to yield many photo opportunities and is a popular place
to enjoy a stroll along the gravel beach.
